Most Rev. Jorge Rodriguez Eagar- Founder
Fr. Jorge’s spiritual path began in childhood, shaped by the deep Roman Catholic devotion of his Mexican grandmothers and aunts. Active in parish life from an early age, he felt called to the priesthood but was twice rejected by Roman Catholic religious orders.
A turning point came in 1985 when he attended a retreat with Guru Mai Chidvilasananda. Her teachings on consciousness, daily spiritual practice, and the role of the guru profoundly transformed his life and encouraged him to rediscover the wisdom within his childhood faith.
In 1998, while visiting Santa Fe, Fr. Jorge encountered the Independent Catholic Apostolic Church of Antioch—a discovery that felt like a spiritual homecoming. Drawn by its inclusive theology and mystical orientation, he was ordained to the priesthood on September 29, 2001.
Alongside his Christian ministry, Fr. Jorge studied Eastern and Western esoteric traditions, including mantra practice, Kabbalah, alchemy, angelic wisdom, and shamanic teachings. Influential mentors included English mage David Goddard and Peruvian shaman Don Americo Yabar, whose teachings deepened his reverence for Mother Earth and sacred cosmology.
In 2001, Fr. Jorge founded what became the **Shrine of Holy Wisdom**, a spiritual community dedicated to inclusive, interfaith practice.
Fr. Jorge’s ministry is informed by a distinguished academic career in bilingual education and Hispanic literature. He holds a B.A. from UCLA, an M.A. from Cal State Los Angeles, and a Ph.D. from Arizona State University. He has served in leadership and teaching roles across Arizona’s educational institutions, bringing a deep respect for diversity, multiple intelligences, and holistic learning into both his professional and spiritual life.
